New Viscount Opera 400 Installed at the Xi’an Concert Hall

We are very happy and proud that one of our organs has been installed in a concert hall of such artistic and cultural prestige.

The Xi’an Concert Hall, inaugurated in 2007 in the heart of the historic capital of the Qin and Tang dynasties, is today one of the leading musical centers in western China. The main hall, designed according to the classic “shoebox” model. The building’s acoustics bear the signature of Harold Marshall, winner of the Sabine Award and one of the world’s most influential designers in this field.

In such a well-defined acoustic environment, the Viscount Opera 400 finds its natural home thanks to its versatility: a three-manual digital organ with a 32-note pedalboard, featuring 55 organ stops plus 8 orchestral voices.

This combination of sound power, digital stop management, and acoustic adaptability makes the Opera 400 an instrument capable of meeting the demands of a multifunctional venue like the Xi’an Concert Hall, whether for symphonic performances, recitals, or multimedia productions.

Maestro 70 Dlx was the star of the show in Brussels for “Interstellar Live”

In Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s cinematic masterpiece featuring the music of Hans Zimmer, the organ is not merely an accompanying instrument: it is the very soul of the film, the immense and mysterious voice of deep space. And this primal power was the true, undisputed star of the extraordinary “Interstellar Live” evening, which was a resounding sell-out at the historic Vorst Nationaal arena in Brussels.

The Maestro 70 Dlx and Roger Sayer’s Touch

At the center of the stage and the entire sensory experience stood a majestic Maestro 70 Dlx organ. A special guest was invited to take the helm: Roger Sayer, the original organist who worked side by side with Hans Zimmer to record the film’s soundtrack. Under his expert hands, the instrument didn’t simply play—it breathed and came alive, literally shaking the very foundations of the Belgian venue and physically conveying to the audience the majesty of black holes and distant galaxies.

Technical Excellence: The Work of Van de Moer Instruments

Bringing the sound of an organ into a massive arena like Vorst Nationaal requires absolute acoustic perfection. For this reason, the installation of the Maestro 70 Dlx was entrusted to the specialists at Van de Moer Instruments. The team did not limit themselves to stage setup but meticulously oversaw the delicate voicing process. Thanks to this surgical and custom-tailored intervention for the venue’s acoustics, every single register of the organ was calibrated to ensure powerful bass and crystal-clear treble capable of enveloping the audience without ever losing definition.

The perfect symphonic backdrop

If the organ was the main engine of this spaceship, the gravitational structure was provided by the Philzuid Orchestra. Masterfully conducted by Ben Palmer, the orchestra created the ideal sonic fabric against which the monumental chords of the Maestro 70 Dlx could shine. The perfect synergy between the organ’s imposing volume and the orchestra’s dynamics conveyed all the tension and emotion of Zimmer’s work.

Those present in Brussels experienced much more than a concert: they embarked on a true interstellar journey guided by the force of the wind and the pipes (virtual and otherwise) of an instrument without equal.

Maestro 70 Dlx

The flagship of the Maestro line, a classic and elegant console offering an unmatched enveloping experience. Featuring 51 organ stops plus 4 orchestral stops, all integrated into an advanced and versatile two-manual design, offering a wide tonal palette for every musical style.
Equipped with AcuSphere reverb, delivering an immersive ambience that truly
transports you into the authentic atmosphere of a real pipe organ experience.
A completely renewed surround system, designed to provide an incredibly rich and
dimensional auditory sensation, enhancing the realism of every performance.

Project co-funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region

In recent months, numerous construction, technological, and organizational improvements have been made to part of the historic Fratelli Galanti factory.

Specifically, these improvements involved the expansion, digitization, and streamlining of the company museum and auditorium in order to make the experience of discovering some of the historical and technical features of the musical instruments we know best—organs—much more interactive and engaging.

As far as the museum is concerned, among the many new features, it will be possible to see how tonewheel organ works, for example, or how the sound of a particular pipe organ voice is generated inside a digital instrument…

The auditorium has been the subject of acoustic studies and surveys in order to implement acoustic treatment with the aim of achieving an even more accurate and effective listening experience of the instruments on display.

The main interventions completed as part of the project include:
1) New soundproofing and new audio-visual equipment for the auditorium;
2) New displays, multimedia totems, and exhibition tools for the museum;
3) Specialist consulting for the digitization of the auditorium and museum;
4) Consulting by Teknehub – Technology Park of the University of Ferrara.
